The famous cartoon character Tintin was born on this day in 1929. Tintin first appeared in a Belgian newspaper and his cartoon series was titled ‘The Adventure of Tintin’. More than 35 crore copies of Tintin comics have been sold in the world and have been translated into more than 100 languages. The Tintin character was created by Belgian cartoonist Georges Remy. Georgis is also known as Herze.

In Georges’ comics, Tintin unravels his mysteries by touring different countries of the world, but surprisingly, Georis Remy had never visited the countries where Tintin went to comics. Tintin was accompanied by a dog, named Snowy.

Many films have also been made above Tintin. Five of these films were released while Georgis was alive. Georges died in 1983. His last wish was that after his death no other artist would make comics on Tintin. A total of 24 comics have appeared on Tintin. The last comics came in 1986.
