Punjab Vidhan Sabha Session, Amarinder Singh Government Today News Update | Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Sit in Inside Assembly

Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh while presenting the resolution in the Legislative Assembly to protest the farmer’s bills of the Center.

In the Punjab Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Tuesday moved a resolution against the agriculture bills of the Central Government and the proposed Electricity (Amendment) Bill. The Chief Minister said that the three agricultural bills of the Center and the proposed Electricity Bill are against the interests of farmers and laborers without land. The Amarinder government introduced its 3 bills against the bills of the Center.

Amarinder said that even during Operation Blue Star, I had left the post. I am not afraid to resign, but instead, carry the resignation in my pocket. The government is not afraid of being sacked, but will not let the farmers get upset, will fight for justice.

Amarinder said on the Centre’s laws that if the Central Government does not repeal its agricultural laws, then the youth can join the farmers and take to the streets, which can cause panic. Right now China and Pakistan are one and they will leave no stone unturned to spoil this climate of Punjab, so the Center should repeal its agricultural laws.

Punjab government introduced these three bills

  • Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Special Provisions and Punjab Amendment Bill
  • The Essential Commodities (Special Provisions and Punjab Amendment) Bill
  • The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services (Special Provisions and Punjab Amendment Bill)

In the monsoon session of Parliament, the Central Government introduced 3 bills related to farming. They were opposed by many states including Punjab. They said that these bills would harm farmers and benefit corporates. Also feared that the Central Government will gradually end the support price system. The Shiromani Akali Dal had broken ties with the NDA. All three bills of the Center became law on 29 September after the President’s approval.

Now the Punjab government has to say about its bills that wheat and paddy cannot be purchased anywhere below the support price anywhere in the state. Provision for a 3-year sentence has been added if a company or businessman is found doing so.

AAP MLAs sat on a dharna in the House itself
Earlier on Monday, a high voltage drama took place in the assembly. The Akali leader arrived wearing a tractor and AAP MLA Kala Chola. The opposition created a lot of uproars when the state government did not get a copy of the bill being brought against the agricultural laws of the Center. In protest against this, the AAP MLA sat on a dharna in the house overnight.

The speaker said that all the legal aspects are being looked into in the bill. The government is trying not to leave any such legal aspect in the bill that would cause problems in the court.

The bill is also necessary because, on its basis, the UPA will ask to pass such bills in other non-BJP states. Earlier, AAP MLA Harpal Cheema along with MLAs came in front of the speaker shouting slogans against the government and asked for a copy of the bill. The Akali Dal also supported AAP. When both parties did not stop creating a ruckus, the speaker adjourned the proceedings till 10 am Tuesday. On the other hand, AAP leaders staged a sit-in inside the house overnight if the copy was not found.
