Before the assembly elections in West Bengal, the political stir has intensified. Another minister of the government resigned 16 days after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s special and former minister Shubhendu Adhikari joined the BJP. On Tuesday, Sports Minister and former cricketer Laxmi Ratan Shukla of the Mamta government opted out of the post of minister.

Shukla was a youth service and sports minister in the Bengal government. He has sent his resignation to Chief Minister and Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar. However, he has not left the legislature so far.

Mamta said – anyone can resign
Meanwhile, Mamta Banerjee said that anyone can resign. Laxmi Ratan Shukla has said in his resignation that he wants to give more time to sports, MLA will continue in the post. Mamta said that it should not be taken negative.

Speculation about retirement from politics
Former Bengal Ranji team captain Shukla is TMC MLA from Howrah North. According to sources, in his resignation, he has expressed his desire to retire from politics. Apart from the post of minister, he has also resigned from the post of TMC District President of Howrah.

Shubhendu Adhikary joined BJP last month
Earlier on 19 December, former minister Subhanu Adhikari, who had left TMC and Mamta’s special, joined the BJP. Along with him, MP Sunil Mandal, former MP Dashrath Tirkey and 10 MLA also joined BJP. Of these, 5 MLAs were from the Trinamool Congress itself.

These MLAs joined BJP
Earlier, Taapsee Mandal, Ashok Dinda, Sudeep Mukherjee, Saikat Panja, Shilabhadra Dutta, Dipali Biswas, Shukra Munda, Shyampada Mukherjee, Biswajit Kundu and Banashree Maiti joined the BJP last month.
