Mumbai Indians won the IPL title for the 5th time. It became the team to win the tournament the most times. Rohit’s team defeated Delhi Capitals by 5 wickets for the first time. The loss added an unsolicited record with Delhi. Delhi became the first team to lose by scoring less than 160 runs in the final.

Rohit’s team, which reached the title 6 times, won by chasing the target for the first time. Earlier, in the 2010 final too, Mumbai chased against Chennai Super Kings, but they lost this match.

Mumbai won the match with 8 balls left

Earlier, on the ground of Dubai, Delhi won the toss and gave a target of 157 runs while batting first. In response, Mumbai lost 157 wickets in 18.4 overs and won the match scoring 157 runs. For the team, Rohit Sharma scored 68 runs in 51 balls and Ishan Kishan scored 33 runs in 19 balls.

Rohit-Dickock gave a fast start

Iyer and Pant put fifty for Delhi

Delhi scored 156 for 7 wickets. Captain Shreyas Iyer scored the highest unbeaten 65 and Rishabh Pant scored 56 runs. In the IPL, it was Iyer’s 16th and Pant’s 12th Fifty. Iyer had his third and Pant’s first half-century in the season. Both shared a 96-run partnership for the fourth wicket with 69 balls. Trent Boult took the most 3 wickets for Mumbai.

Iyer named second best score as captain
Delhi captain Iyer remained unbeaten after scoring 65 runs in the final. This is the second best score made by a captain in the IPL final. Earlier this record was in the name of Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner. He scored 69 in the 2016 final against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Delhi lost 3 wickets for 22 runs
Delhi had a very poor start. The team lost 3 wickets for 22 runs. Trent Bolt gave Delhi 2 early setbacks. He opened the account without Marcus Stoinis and got Ajinkya Rahane caught for 2 by wicketkeeper Quinton Dickock. Delhi opener Stoinis was out on the first ball. Rohit Sharma became the second player to play 200 matches in IPL. Earlier, Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni played 200 matches in IPL. Apart from Mumbai Indians, Rohit has also played in the Deccan Chargers in the league. This is Rohit’s 155th match for Mumbai.
