District and Sessions Judge Kanta Martin, posted in Mungeli, Chhattisgarh, committed suicide on Sunday. Police broke the door of his official bungalow and found the dead body hanging from the sari’s noose. At the moment it is not clear why the female judge gave her life? Mungeli’s SP Arvind Kujur said that according to preliminary information, Judge Kanta Martin lived alone. She was in depression due to loneliness.

The door closed after the cook reached the bungalow
Martin’s cook arrived at their bungalow around 9 am Sunday. Due to the door being locked, he kept playing the bell for a long time. He also made phone calls to Kanta Martin, but received no response. He then informed other court officials living in the neighborhood. On receiving information, SP reached the spot. He looked through the window with the help of a flashlight, and Martin’s body was seen hanging from the floor. After this, the police broke the door and brought down the body. No suicide note has been found from the room.

Husband dies, son lives in other cities
Police said that Judge Kanta Martin’s husband had died a year and a half ago. His two sons live in Raipur and Delhi. Kanta Martin was the District and Sessions Judge of Mungeli District from July 2019. She was posted in Bilaspur, Kanker, Durg and Raipur. She was a resident of Katni in Madhya Pradesh. The police has informed their sons of the incident.
