Diego Maradona died at the age of 60 from a heart attack. He was discharged from the hospital two weeks ago. He was then admitted for brain surgery. Maradona is counted among the greatest footballers and played a key role in winning Argentina the World Cup in 1986.
The tournament also includes his World Famous Goal, known as the “Hand of God”. Argentina scored England out of the tournament with the help of this goal.
Discharged on 11 November after brain surgery
Maradona was discharged from the hospital on 11 November following brain surgery, according to Argentine media reports. He was to be discharged on this day at 6 pm. However, Maradona left for home early, as thousands of his fans flocked to the streets to catch a glimpse. Maradona played football from clubs such as Boca Juniors, Napoli, Barcelona. They have millions of fans all over the world.
Maradona played 91 matches in international career
Playing with Argentina, Maradona played 91 matches in an international career, scoring 34 goals. He played 4 FIFA World Cup tournaments, including the 1986 World Cup. He was also the captain of Argentina in the 1986 World Cup. He was declared the best player of the tournament. He won the Golden Ball Award.
Maradona has also been awarded the FIFA Player of the Century. He has won the World Cup Golden Ball once, Belon d’Or, 2 times South American Footballer of the Year, 6 times National League Top Scorer Award.
In the last football World Cup, health deteriorated
Maradona was admitted to the hospital several times after his retirement from football. In the year 2000, he had taken so much cocaine that his heart could fail and he could die. After this, he was in rehabilitation for many years. In 2005, he underwent an operation for weight loss.
After this, in 2007, he was admitted to the hospital due to excessive drinking. His health also deteriorated in the last Football World Cup. He was seen in the executive box in this World Cup. Meanwhile, Argentina defeated Nigeria.
