The five-day Deepotsav festival starts today (12 November). This time there is confusion regarding Dhanteras due to Almanac distinction. Some people will celebrate this festival on 12 and some on 13 November. According to astrologers from Varanasi, Tirupati and Ujjain, this time the date of Trayodashi will start from the evening of November 12, which will last till around 3 pm on November 13.

For this reason, on the 12th of November, on the day of Trayodashi in Pradosh period, one should celebrate the Dhanteras festival by worshiping Lord Dhanvantari and putting Yama lamp in the evening. Those who want to shop on Trayodashi date can do it on 13 November.

In this way, shopping of Dhanteras can be done for 2 days. After this, Chaturdashi Tithi will start on 13 and will remain till about 1.25 in the afternoon on 14. Then Amavasya will begin, so on 14 both Roop Chaturdashi and Deepavali festivals will be celebrated. There will be a festival of Govardhan Puja on 15 and brotherhood on 16.

Dhanteras Abu Dhuj special day

According to scholars, Dhanteras will be the best time for the worship of Lakshmi and Kubera in the evening and Yama Deepdaan as well as for purchase. Having a tradition of shopping on Dhanteras can be purchased throughout the day.

It is auspicious to buy silver coins, Ganesh and Lakshmi statues on this day only with the desire to keep prosperity in the family intact. There is also a tradition of buying gold and silver items. Apart from this, there is a practice of buying brass, bronze, steel and copper utensils.

Dhanvantari also incarnated on this day, that is why this day is also called Dhanteras. In the ocean churning, Lord Dhanvantari came out with nectar in the urn, so on this day we buy metal utensils.
