Constant rain in Chennai, water filled in Karunanidhi’s house

Chennai has been raining for the last 24 hours. Many areas are flooded. Former CM Karunanidhi’s house was also flooded. The Chennai administration remembers the lessons of the 2015 floods, so the gates of the 90% filled Chambermbakkam dam have been opened.

Officials say that 1000 cusecs of water will be released from the dam in the first phase. Water from the dam will flow into the Adyar river, so an alert has been sounded in the lower reaches of the river area, such as Kundratur, Sirukalathur, Tirumudivakkam, and Tiruniramalai.
