Dry run will be done at three points in every capital. Some remote districts will also include it, which is difficult to reach. Through this exercise, the government wants to test the preparation of its machinery.

On 2 January, a dry run (trial) of the Corona vaccine will be done across the country. The Health Ministry took this decision at a high-level meeting on Thursday. The trial was conducted in four states on December 28 and 29. Under this, preparation of machinery for vaccination was tested in two districts each of Punjab, Assam, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat.

The meeting was held to review preparations for vaccination under the chairmanship of Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan. Secretaries (Health), MDs of National Health Mission and Health Administrators of States / UTs attended the meeting through video conferencing.

After the meeting, the government informed that a dry run will be done in all states and centrally administered states. Three points will be decided in all capitals for the trial. Remote districts in some states will also be included, where it may be difficult to deliver the vaccine. The central government has asked all the states to make adequate arrangements for this trial.

25 health workers will be involved at every point

Maharashtra and Kerala have decided that they will run dry in their big cities besides the capital. On 20 December, the Central Government issued the guidelines for this. For this, the Medical Officer Incharge will prepare a list of 25 health workers participating in the vaccination process. States must decide whether their data is uploaded to Co-Win. These health workers will be present during the dry run.

What is dry run?

Till now the government has been vaccinating only children and pregnant women. For this also, one day of the week is decided in different states. This is the first time the adult population in the country will also be vaccinated. Because of this, the central government is running a dry run to see the preparation of government machinery for vaccination drives.

In this, the process of transporting the vaccine from cold chain to vaccination sites in the states will be examined. Similarly, efforts will be made to find out what kind of problems can occur on vaccination sites.

This is how the whole process will be tested

The dry run will have the necessary data entry on COVIN (Co-WIN). There will be vaccine delivery on online platforms, receipt and allocation of testing, appointment of team members, mock drills at vaccination sites.

This includes real-time tracking of cold storage and transportation arrangements for the COVID-19 vaccine. Along with managing congestion at vaccination sites, physical distancing is also being seen.
