Sonia Gandhi held about 5 hours of discussion with angry Congress leaders on Saturday. During this, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi were also present. The meeting discussed the grievances of the party leaders, the strategy for the upcoming elections and the new party president. There was general consensus that a contemplation camp would be held soon. In this, the party leaders will discuss about the strategy ahead. During the meeting, Rahul Gandhi openly expressed his opinion and tried his best to convince the angry leaders.

‘Party needs Rahul’s leadership’
According to senior Congress leader Pawan Bansal, everyone said in the meeting that the party needs Rahul’s leadership. We should not care for those who want to divert attention from the agenda.

Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Rajya Sabha member Anand Sharma, former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, former Finance Minister P Chidambaram and former Union Minister Ambika Soni reached 10 Janpath to attend the meeting on Saturday. . A few days ago, a former Chief Minister met Sonia Gandhi after the death of Ahmed Patel. He appealed to the interim president to meet party leaders and resolve the issue. That is why this meeting was called.

Rahul said- respect to all of you
In the meeting, Rahul Gandhi said that the Congress party is not like the BJP. Everyone is respected here. Many of you have been my father’s allies. I appreciate and respect everyone’s contribution and experience. We are not the BJP, which bypasses its senior leaders. The party will move forward only due to the enthusiasm of the youth and the experience of the seniors. The battle here is not about the young versus the elderly. No one should think of himself as neglected. Its strength is important, not the position in the party.

Party leaders said – Rahul becomes president again

  • In the meeting, the party leaders wanted Rahul Gandhi to become the president again. On this, Rahul said that this work should be left to the organization. The next president will be elected as part of a process.
  • After the meeting, party leader Pawan Bansal said that no one has any objection to the proposal to make Rahul Gandhi president again.
  • Earlier on Friday, Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said that 99.9% of the party’s leaders want Rahul Gandhi to take over as president again.

There was a deadlock inside the party
A month ago, Ghulam Nabi Azad questioned the way the party functioned. He had said that elections cannot be won with five star culture. Today, there is a problem with politicians that if they get a ticket, they first book the Five Star Hotel. If the road is bad then they will not go on it. No election can be won until this culture is abandoned. In the last 72 years, Congress is at the bottom of the list. The Congress has also not held the post of Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha during the last two terms.

Leaders had also written a letter to Sonia
A few months ago, 23 party leaders also wrote letters to Sonia Gandhi on this issue. These included Ghulam Nabi Azad along with Kapil Sibal. The letter demanded a change in the party from top to bottom.

At the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting, Sibal and Azad were angered by allegations of politicians writing letters to the BJP. After the defeat in Bihar elections, Kapil Sibal even went so far as to say that the party has probably accepted defeat in every election as the destiny. His statement was considered a target of the party’s top leadership ie Sonia and Rahul Gandhi.
