BJP has fielded Sushil Modi as its candidate for the by-election in a Rajya Sabha seat vacated by the death of Ram Vilas Paswan. Sushil, who was the deputy CM of Bihar in the previous government, has not been given any role in the NDA government this time. On November 15, 12 days before Bhaskar had told that the BJP is preparing to take Sushil Modi to the Rajya Sabha.

BJP national spokesperson Sanjay Mayukh said on Friday that Sushil Modi is the BJP’s candidate. There was also talk of sending Shahnawaz Hussain from BJP for this seat. Apart from this, the name of Rituraj, son of senior leader RK Sinha, was also discussed.

Sushil Modi will go to Delhi against Nitish’s choice

After the results of Bihar elections, on 15 November, at 1 pm, Bhaskar had told that the post of deputy CM would be withdrawn from Sushil Modi. Sushil Modi will be sent to Rajya Sabha against Nitish’s choice. Sushil Modi also had a tweet that I will fulfill the responsibility which is given. The post of worker cannot be taken back.

RJD will also launch candidates
RJD leader Manoj Jha told Bhaskar on Friday that we will also field our candidates in the Rajya Sabha elections. Though RJD has not announced any names yet, the names of party state president Jagdanand Singh and senior leader Abdul Bari Siddiqui are discussed. If the RJD enters the candidature, there will be voting in the house. In Rajya Sabha elections there is secret voting and there is a history of horse trading.

  • Last date for filing nomination: 3 December
  • Date of scrutiny of nomination papers: 4 December
  • Last date for withdrawal of nomination: 7 December
  • The vote will be: On 14 December
  • Voting time: 9 AM to 4 PM
  • Ballots will be counted: 14 December at 5 pm
