He partnered 121 runs off 245 balls for the sixth wicket with Jadeja. Rahane scored his 12th century of Test career. This was his second century on Australian soil. Earlier in the Boxing-Day Test in 2014, he scored 147 runs at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

Rahane is the 5th Indian captain to score a century in Australia

Rahane is the 12th Indian captain to score a century in Tests. At the same time, he is the 5th Indian captain to score a Test century in Australia. Rahane has scored 2 centuries in MCG. He is the second Indian captain to do so. Earlier, former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar achieved this feat in the 1999/00 series.

India lead in 2 consecutive Tests in Australia after 35 years
