Lieutenant General Paramjit Singh is currently holding the post of Director General of Military Operations.
The Central Government on Tuesday approved the post of Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Strategy) in the headquarters. The government has taken this decision under the re-organization of the army headquarters. At the time of the Doklam dispute with China in 2017, the army felt the need for close and direct coordination. Since then the idea of this post was going on.
Lieutenant General Paramjit Singh may get this new responsibility. Apart from this, the government has also approved the post of Director General Information Welfare in the headquarters. Media affairs will also be dealt under this post.
Many officers will work including military intelligence
Army sources said on Thursday that the current Director General of Military Operations, Lieutenant General Paramjit Singh may be the country’s first deputy chief of army staff. Under him, many big officers including military operations and military intelligence in-charge will work.
Army Chief to visit Dubai
Meanwhile, Army Chief General M.M. Narwane will travel to Saudi Arabia and UAE next week. This visit of the Army Chief is considered very important for the relations between the countries of Middle East and India. According to sources, the tour to Narwane will be of 4 days. This will be the first time that an Indian Army Chief will visit Saudi Arabia. On his tour he will meet his counterpart and other senior officers.
