India will now export the Akash missile system. The proposal has been approved by the Union Cabinet on Wednesday. The Akash Air Defense System has been developed by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO). This decision of the Union Cabinet is a new step towards self-reliant India, as 9 countries of East Asia and Africa have shown interest in purchasing the Akash missile system.
Steps are being taken towards self-reliant India mission
Giving information about this decision of the Cabinet, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that under the self-reliant India Mission, the country is increasing its manufacturing capabilities in the field of defense, now the missile making capacity is also increasing. In view of this, the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to export the Akash missile system.
He said that the version of Akash missile to be exported will be different from the missile in the Indian Army fleet.
Was inducted into the Indian Army in 2015
Akash is an important missile for India. 96 percent of it has been prepared in India. It can hit in a range of 25 km from the ground to the sky. The missile was inducted into the Indian Air Force in 2014 and into the Indian Army in 2015.
35 thousand crore defense equipment will be exported by 2025
The Government of India has targeted to export defense products worth 35 thousand crores by 2025. The objective of the Defense Production Export Promotion Policy 2020 is to improve strategic relations with friendly countries through defense exports.
